New DOT HazMat Courses Now Available on VOD3

Every day facilities throughout the United States transport thousands of materials around the country.  We rely on transportation by air, land, pipelines, and sea to get these materials to their destinations safely and properly. There are several categories of materials transported daily and one category is hazardous materials (HazMat).  Hazardous materials require extra-special attention because of the health and safety risks they pose if not handled properly.  Hazardous materials are divided into nine different classes:

  1. Explosives
  2. Flammable gases
  3. Flammable liquids
  4. Flammable solids
  5. Oxidizers and Organic Peroxides
  6. Poison substances
  7. Radioactive materials
  8. Corrosives
  9. Miscellaneous

To prevent accidents during transport, the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) developed a set of regulations for handling and transporting hazardous materials.  DOT requires all companies transporting or ship hazardous materials to provide proper training to their HazMat employees.  By popular demand for this type of training, Mastery released four new course titles covering DOT regulations of the transportation of hazardous materials.  These four titles include:

These courses thoroughly discuss safety and security training in properly handling, recognizing, and understanding the hazardous materials present in different workplaces. As a beneficial addition to these courses, they are compatible with our third-generation Video On Demand (VOD3) platform.  On this platform courses seamlessly play on any mobile device, no matter what browser or operating system.

The most effective way to help avoid incidents while handling and transporting hazardous materials is by knowing how to safely work with them; implementing comprehensive safety and security training encourages safe handling procedures.  Visit Mastery.com for more information on these courses as well as other DOT and HazMat course titles.
